cricket handkerchief magic

Many sportspeople are known for their celebrations. But no one does it quite like South African spin bowler Tabraiz Shamsi. In a recent T20 match he celebrated taking a wicket by producing a red handkerchief and turning it into a large silver rod.

Shamsi who has reputation for bizarre celebrations and often takes off his shoe and uses it as phone to entertain crowds, stunned the South African crowd with his magic trick.

“I have always been fascinated by magic and different tricks,” says Shamsi . “From the age of about 15 or 16, I wanted to become a magician as it was a hobby of mine. It wasn’t just a phase, but something that really interested me as a small child. I still love it, but cricket obviously took over after that….Entertaining on the field is just my way of taking pressure off myself and being able to enjoy things. I feel like when I am myself, I am able to play my best cricket.”

Shamsi’s magic wasn’t enough to win the match for Paarl Rocks against Durban Heat. Rocks lost the South African Super League T20 match by six wickets.
