Colombian Man Caught Smuggling Cocaine Under Wig at Airport

In what can only be described as a follicular felony gone wrong, a Colombian man attempted to smuggle drugs under a rather suspicious-looking toupee while boarding a flight from Cartagena to Amsterdam on February 20, 2025.

Security officials quickly clocked that something was off—not just about his behaviour, but about his hair, which appeared to be sitting on his head like a nervous squirrel. A closer inspection revealed that he was wearing wig, and when they took scissors to then hairpiece they discovered the wig was hiding more than just a receding hairline. Stuffed underneath were 19 cocaine capsules, a stash worth more than €10,000 (£8,290), authorities reported.

The ill-conceived hair-raising heist didn’t get far. The man was promptly arrested and handed over to the Attorney General’s Office, facing charges of drug trafficking, manufacturing, and possession.

Moral of the story? If your smuggling plan hinges on an unconvincing wig, you might just find yourself going from first-class to no-class—with a one-way ticket to a jail cell, where the only thing you’ll be concealing is regret.
