Fly with tattoo wings

freaky nature

This amazing fruit fly has evolved so that it has what looks like images of ants tattooed on its wings.

Recently spotted by the New York Times, the the fruit fly G tridensfly has an ant design on their transparent wings that resembles an ant, or depending on their position, spiders.

Other flies in its family of 5,000 species have other type of markings on its wings but it’s only the G tridens that has something this intricate.

bizarre nature

Scientists believe the design is there to ward off predators. Dr Brigitte Howarth of Zayed University who first discovered G tridens in the UAE, says the fly flashes it wings back and forth to make it seem as if the ants are moving around. She says the movement would confuse the predator.

Amazing true and freaky.
