This is one of the most amazing dance performances you are ever likely to see.
This spectacular dance is known as the Thousand-Hand Bodhisattva or Guan Yin, and what makes this epic synchronized dance even more amazing is that the performers are all disabled.
The dancers in this troupe (the China Art Troupe of Disable Persons) are all deaf and the musicians are all visually impaired. The hard work and dedication for this performance is truly outstanding.
Guan Yin is the East Asian Boddhisattva of compassion and mercy. It is said her 11 faces and thousand hands seek out those who need her guidance. She’s the feminine reincarnation of Avalokiteshvara in India. The Boddhisatva were once human beings. Instead of achieving Nirvana, they refused it and returned to this world to help all sentient life be free from despair and pain.
