In what can only be described as the most committed bit of football fandom since a man tattooed Messi’s face on his calf and spelled it wrong, two Belgian blokes hid in a Munich stadium toilet for 27 hours just to watch the Champions League final without a ticket.
Yes, TiK Tokkers Neal Remmerie and Senne Haverbeke took the term “bog standard fan” to new heights when they snuck into the Allianz Arena the day before the match, sealed themselves in cubicles with homemade ‘Out of Order’ signs, and sat through a day of fluorescent lighting, echoing flushes, and existential dread.
Armed with snacks, phones, and probably a very confused bladder, they survived the ultimate endurance test: a full day and night in a public toilet, surrounded by unsuspecting staff doing their business.
Then, at the crucial moment—when the scent of overpriced hot dogs and distant chants signalled kickoff—they emerged. Like two footballing Gollums, they slinked past a distracted security guard (“on his phone, with food in his hand”, naturally) and took seats among the jubilant PSG fans, who’d go on to witness a 5–0 demolition of Inter Milan.
“It was the most beautiful football match we have ever seen,” Remmerie said—though frankly, after 27 hours in a lav, a regional pub friendly might’ve felt like the World Cup final.
UEFA and Allianz Arena officials, caught somewhere between horror and grudging admiration, have yet to comment. Meanwhile, somewhere in Belgium, two men are probably plotting how to watch the Euros from inside a vending machine.
